There are cycle routes that lead directly from the farm varying in difficulty. It is an easy/moderate cycle route off to Hollingworth Lake along the Pennine Bridleway track over the moor.

The cycle route that goes over Blackstone Edge and down through Cragg Vale to Mythomroyd is the longest continuous ascent and descent in England and was named as Sir Chris Hoy’s top 10 routes, there is now a cycle track that goes along the A58 up to the White House.


The Tour de France passed over Blackstone Edge in 2014, 2 miles from the cottages and the Tour de Yorkshire in 2015 followed the same route in reverse.
Hollingworth Lake is popular with children and traffic free around the back.

The Rochdale Canal towpath is traffic free and access to the path is 5 minutes down the road. From there you can cycle into Manchester or up in West Yorkshire in the other direction.

The Pennine Bridleway only half a mile away offers longer and more challenging routes around the South Pennines and is traffic free.

The Yorkshire Water/North West Water access route to the reservoirs on Blackstone Edge is now open to cyclists. This is mainly a on a flat hard surface and the views over the South Pennines on a clear day are spectacular.


The Water Activity Centre runs Mountain Bike Courses and provides all the gear.. including a bike.
